Maintenance Engineer

Monday-Friday 8am-4.30pm

Salary: £40,000pa

Metalis are working with an established plastic injection moulding company who are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer.The Maintenance Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and functionality of all equipment utilized by Shift Leaders and the production department. This includes Injection Mould machines, ancillary equipment (such as water heaters and robots), material transportation systems, and the onsite chilled water system. The primary objective is to uphold operational efficiency in accordance with the latest Health & Safety (H&S) guidelines and ensure a high standard of housekeeping throughout the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Scheduled Maintenance:

  • Maintain machines and ancillary equipment according to a predefined schedule with specific scopes of work for each machine.

  • Assist in developing and refining maintenance schedules based on operational needs and feedback.

Emergency Repairs:

  • Perform immediate diagnosis and repairs during equipment breakdowns.

  • Liaise with machine suppliers and compile lists of required parts from engineering drawings as needed.

Equipment Checks:

  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify maintenance needs promptly.

Collaboration and Planning:

  • Coordinate with schedulers and the production department to establish maintenance and repair timeframes.

  • Adhere to agreed-upon schedules for minimal disruption to production.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain comprehensive records of preventive maintenance and repairs undertaken.

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with the latest safety regulations and standards.

  • Coordinate with suppliers for equipment inspections and repairs.

Shift Handover and Housekeeping:

  • Conduct thorough shift handovers, highlighting any issues or concerns to the incoming team.

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping during all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure areas are left in optimal condition for the next shift.

Equipment Handling and Personal Safety:

  • Operate cranes and Forklift Trucks (FLTs) in strict adherence to H&S guidelines.

  • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Professional Conduct:

  • Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with colleagues and suppliers.

  • Uphold general H&S standards across the factory at all times.
