Do you want to be in control of your earnings & speak to prospects in an interesting niche market that’s never too far away from the news?

Then read on!

For more than 3 decades, Rail Media has been producing magazines, websites and job boards that serve the Rail Industry across the UK and beyond.

240,000 people work in Rail-related industries in the UK - this has given us a captive audience to speak to. Whether they are job seekers looking to break into, or move across the rail industry, using our job board RailwayPeople.com or rail professionals looking to stay abreast of the latest developments in the industry, by reading our magazines, Rail Engineer & RailStaff or online via our news websites. Our audience is also made up by the thousands of guests that have attended our prestigious RailStaff Awards and Summits each year. We have something for everyone.

So what will I be doing?

You will primarily focus on generating sales for our two magazines RailStaff and Rail Engineer. We receive many incoming enquiries each week and it’ll be your job to guide these enquiries, nurture them and see them through to a full purchase of one of our many products.

Is that it? Sounds a bit easy?

You will gain experience dealing with incoming enquiries that will stand you in good stead for the most important part of the role which is outbound business development.

We are looking for people who are confident to make outbound sales calls, sometimes cold calls and sometimes it may be to a contact already known to the business. Either way, you will be expected to generate new business by using all the tools available to you from making calls, emails, social media and networking in person.

HUSTLE!

You’ll be confident on the phone, making calls to prospects.

You’ll be smart with words - using email prospecting tools to make contact.

You’ll be socially aware - using tools like LinkedIn to stay abreast of news in the industry, reaching out to key decision makers on the platform.

In a word, you’ll hustle. You’ll find a way to speak to the key people in some of the tens of thousands of rail-related businesses in the UK. You won’t give up easily, and you’ll turn prospects into conversations, and conversations into cash!

We Celebrate Success

In sales, success comes in many forms, not just the pound signs

You’ll send a good email - we’ll high five you

You’ll make a good call - we’ll appreciate that

You’ll get involved in interesting conversations on LinkedIn - we see you, we’ll share it

You’ll get that proposal out, right on deadline, we’ll help you

You’ll overcome objections - we LOVE that

You’ll learn every day - we learn with you

About you

You’ve probably done sales before and ideally you’ve sold to businesses. Even more ideally, you’ve sold advertising before and might even know something about the rail industry!

But if you haven’t, don’t be afraid to apply, we love developing the superstars of tomorrow. We’ll ask you to demonstrate your soft skills during interview to see what you’ve got!

You’ll want to work for a company where you can be trusted to work independently, with agility, within a small team. With all the digital tools at your disposal, you’re never too far away from help, even on those days you’re not in the office.

You’ll ideally want a full time job, but we welcome applications from experienced sales people who are looking for something different. We’re open to flexible working hours, job-share, part time working or school-run working hours across the week. We know how difficult it is for parents juggling the school run and a job, so don’t be afraid to tell us what you are looking for in your application.

As well as a commission scheme we offer an employee healthcare plan for peace of mind.

If you think this sounds like the role for you then hit Apply and you’ll be guided through the next steps.

We look forward to hearing from you!
