We have an exciting opportunity for an established donor relations professional to join our team at the very heart of supporting our high-value fundraisers, primarily working with the grants fundraising team.

We are expanding our newly formed High Value Stewardship Team with a Stewardship Officer role specialising in supporting Grants Funders.

With your successful track record in creating impactful communications and experiences, you’ll be joining at the ideal time to be part of a team designing and implementing the best possible supporter experience at the National Trust. 

Grants Funders will be your main focus, stewarding our highest value funders such as National Lottery Heritage Fund, Sport England, DEFRA and National Highways. You will work closely with this high performing team to develop and deliver inspiring stewardship journeys for multi £m+ funders.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

The role will involve travel to National Trust places and regional offices to meet with stakeholders and to carry out work.

What you'll be doing

As Donor Stewardship Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high quality stewardship activities and communications to bring our supporters close to the impact they help us to achieve.

You’ll work in partnership with the Grants Managers to support first-class relationship management for a group of key statutory and lottery funders. You’ll be responsible for the timely delivery of donor communications, and you’ll develop inspiring and engaging donor touch points. You will act as stewardship lead for a suite of fundraising projects gathering content from across the Trust to use for donor stewardship.

You’ll work closely with all fundraising teams both centrally and regionally, with the Communications and Events teams, and with colleagues delivering projects across the Trust.

  • Experience of delivering timely, high-quality, high value donor stewardship
  • A proven record of managing the delivery of a stewardship programme
  • The ability to analyse data to create impactful communications and experiences
  • Experience of creating donor communications and bespoke impact reporting, on time and on budget
  • Creativity and a passion for creating a joyful donor experience
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team or independently, and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Working knowledge of relationship management databases
