What is the role?

This role leads the proposition development and space planning/management for Gatwick Retail. Driving income by identifying opportunities that optimise and extend retail space or convert other non-commercial space.  Main point of contact for stakeholder engagement and recommendation on Retail design, Retail proposition and planning for the future.

What will you do?

• Clearly communicate requirements and strategic importance of Retail-sponsored projects. Acting as internal and external sponsor or subject matter expert, working with, and influencing construction and business change to ensure retail contribute to project planning and supporting delivery, managing risk and change
• Responsible for identification and sponsorship of projects that exploit existing space/new space for new opportunities, leading the case for new approaches and models to deliver solutions to category challenges, delivering financial modelling and proposal analysis
• Accountable for the development and implementation of retail layout, the look, feel and other design guidelines. Ensuring that these are consistent with the broader business brand and look and feel.
• Working closely with Contracts, Business Development, Operations teams in Retail to deliver relevant EBITDA targets. Work with other teams, including Marketing, Construction, Engineering, to understand options available to Gatwick and ensure best commercial/operational outcome.
• Acts as a mentor / specialist point of contact for broader Retail team.

Do you have what we're looking for?

• Degree-level qualification, ideally in a numerical subject
• Strong commercial decision maker with excellent understanding of value trade-offs and space management; experienced in building business cases to secure investment
• Track record of building new external relationships, developing business to bring new brands and new concepts to an airport environment 
• Data driven and financially astute, uses analysis and financial awareness to make decisions, Familiarity with MS Office, especially Excel, including modelling desirable
• Experienced project manager with demonstrable experience ensuring the business contribution facilitates project delivery on time, within scope and budget
• Strong understanding of key strategic concepts, e.g. customer segmentation, market sizing, business/investment cases, elasticity, etc.
• Experience within commercial and retail functions, with a deep understanding of retail priorities and drivers for success; understanding of customer experience
• Prior experience of people leadership and managing third party consultants
