Sports and Learning Mentor

Empowering Learning are working alongside a secondary school in the Lincoln area who are looking to appoint a Sports and Learning Mentor to work across KS3 and KS4. The role is full time and initially on a fixed term contract starting ASAP. The role has the potential to become permanent for the right person.
The hours of work are 8:30-4:00 and working days are Monday to Friday.
The main duties within this role will be:
- Working closely with pupils who present with challenging behaviour
- Leading sports sessions at break and lunchtimes
- Providing 1:1 support to children in class
- Using sports as a way to mentor children
- De-escalating situations where children have showed extreme behaviours
- Leading academic interventions with children working below age expected levels
- Assisting the class teacher with the set up of lessons
- Liaising with the class teacher and school SENCO around progress of the pupils
The school are looking for someone who:
- Holds a TA qualification or relevant degree
- Holds at least one sports based qualification
- Has had either TeamTeach training or MAPA Training (Desirable not essential)
- Previously supported children with challenging behaviours
- Has an understanding of supporting SEN pupils
- Can inspire pupils to reach their full potential
