Our client is seeking a bridging / second charge expert to lead their newly formed function / profit centre and meet strategic firm objectives. Having recently secured £100mln credit line (with another £100m earmarked for 2025), the brand are in exponential growth mode and looking to double their headcount within the next 12 months. Your role will include origination, business development, product development, product launches, credit, risk, operational areas including staff management and further recruitment when required. A full 360 Managing Director opportunity.

Reporting directly to the CEO and Executive Director, the role is a designated senior management position with full profit and loss responsibility. You will take over overall responsibility for the bridging financing business, including managing distribution with brokers and direct customers, underwriting frameworks, drawdown and post completion monitoring until settlement of deals. You will maintain and expand originating credit lines for this growing business possessing strategic and leadership vision meeting the firms overall strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Defining and owning the development and delivery of a business strategy for the bridge financing division of the company including bridging products for refurbishment, "ground up" full development finance and revolving credit products.
  • Providing strategic and operational input on a full range of business development, funding and operational decisions to the Executive team.
  • Direct line management of business development, underwriting and operational senior managers and oversight over their processes.
  • Ensuring compliance to funding credit criteria.
  • Management of suppliers and partners related to origination and operations
  • Ensure there is a strong relationship between the business development and underwriting / operational teams.
  • Evaluate regularly the speed, efficiency and quality of customer service of business processes including supporting IT systems.
  • Ensure that pipeline of financing deals is managed effectively against availability of funding lines maximizing utilisation.
  • Ensuring compliance to relevant laws and regulations (if applicable)
  • Ensuring changes to systems and processes are well governed and documented
  • Oversight over customer complaints and its reporting.
  • Training and supporting colleagues as required.
  • Ensuring adequate systems and controls to mitigate the risk that the firm might be used to further financial crime and money laundering.
  • Overseeing all business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are in line with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Building relationships with key partners and stakeholders and acting as a point of contact for important shareholders.
  • Making high-quality capital expenditure decisions to advance the business and increase profits.
  • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of our competitors, markets and industry in which the company operates.
  • Supervise management and staff in an efficient organisational structure.
  • Working closely with the Executive Board.

Required skills

  • Excellent communication skills both to external (brokers, credit line providers, suppliers) and internal stakeholders (colleagues, Board members and shareholders).
  • Experience in managing and improving performance within operational and sales team
  • Previous senior management experience in bridge financing
  • Extensive knowledge of end-to-end bridging finance processes including ideally development finance.
  • Analytical approach to improve efficiency across all business processes.
  • Manage key risks impacting the business through implementing proportionate controls in line with the organizational risk appetite
  • Develop clear management key performance and key risk indicators
  • Outstanding negotiation skills with customers, credit line providers and suppliers
  • Excellent organisational and leadership ability.
  • Strong analytical skills and numeracy.
  • 10+ years experience of the UK bridge / second charge financing market.
