£18.00 per hour weekdays

£19.50 per hour weekends

Monday to Friday 07.15-10.15 Monday to Friday term time

Holidays and weekends 08.15-11.15

A fantastic opportunity to work as a Rehabilitation Support Worker with a 7 year old boy. He is always smiling and needs a Support Worker to be engaging and interactive with him whilst supporting him in his family home. This role specifically is to offer support prior to going to school and at the weekends and holidays, to support getting ready for the day. You will play a key role in providing support on a 1-to-1 basis in a busy and thriving family home.

The Client

Our client has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user. He has limited speech and communicates via expression and eye pointing. He has difficulties with swallowing and has nutrition via a PEG.

The role requires the individual to carry out morning chest percussion, personal care/dressing, and feeding via PEG. You will receive bespoke training to carry out each of these duties. In addition, you will be expected to prepare clothes and school bag for school and help the client into his wheelchair and then into his adapted vehicle. There is a hoist for all transfers but you must be physically fit to carry out your duties that will include bending to anchor and secure the wheelchair into the vehicle. You will maintain a clean and safe environment including cleaning any equipment after use.

Person Specification

· One year’s experience of working with children in either education or care is essential.

· Experience of working with acquired brain injury or with special educational needs would be an advantage.

· Knowledge and experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams, implementing therapeutic and behaviour programmes is desirable.

It is desirable to be in possession of clean driving licence for an automatic vehicle.
