We are seeking a dedicated SEN teaching assistant to support children in both KS1 and KS2. At Randstad, we tailor roles to fit your background and preferences, ensuring they align with our clients' needs. Upon joining, you'll be paired with a dedicated consultant who will address your queries and maintain ongoing communication to help you find your ideal role and beyond. You will primarily work with children in specialised schools in the Wakefield area.

The school uses various strategies to support children in the classroom, aiming for both academic and personal growth. They are committed to addressing the evolving challenges faced by learners, families, staff, and communities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children's personal and educational details.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to provide holistic support.
  • Handle crisis situations, such as meltdowns or behavioural challenges, calmly and professionally.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of children with SEN, ensuring they receive appropriate resources and accommodations.
  • Assist in teaching essential life skills, such as time management, organisation, and self-advocacy, to prepare children for life beyond school.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of the national Key Stage Curriculum.
  • Proficiency in various teaching techniques suitable for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child development and the learning process.
  • Strong commitment to fostering positive relationships with children and understanding their needs.
  • Ability to provide personalised attention, encouragement, and support with learning tasks.
  • Possess an Enhanced DBS check or be willing to obtain one through Randstad.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
