Your new roleAs Company Accountant, you will be a key part of the finance team delivering the month-end report pack and supporting reconciliations. The position will involve working with all departments within the company, promoting financial and driving continuous improvements and efficiencies, reporting to the Financial Controller.You will be involved in the preparation of reports to assist with commercial decisions and preparation of information for budget setting and forecasting, as well as liaising with bankers and auditors when required and providing assistance with testing internal controls and instigating improvements where necessary.Key responsibilities include:Producing meaningful, accurate monthly management accountsControl account reconciliations including bank, debtors, creditors, pension etc.Preparation and submission of UK and ROI VAT returnsValuation of stock and work in progress/accrued incomeBalance sheet reconciliationsVariance analysis and reportingInternal controls, process documentation/flow chartsAnnual budgeting, planning and forecastingManage capital expenditureCashflow projectionsReviewing accounting processes/practices and making improvements where applicableWhat you'll need to succeedFully qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a similar accounting roleStrong IT skills, including a high proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExtensive knowledge of business systems, process and reportingStrong project management and excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and inspire excellent performance from colleaguesA proactive and flexible working approach with the ability to adapt to changing situationsDesirableGood working knowledge of Sage Accounts & Payroll What you'll get in returnYou will work for an award-winning, innovative business who pride themselves on their strong company values and employee commitment. Company Accountant Location: GillinghamJob Type: Temp to PermDaily Rate: Up to £170 per day We are currently offering a temp to perm opportunity for a Company Accountant role based in Gillingham. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong background in finance and accounting, who is proficient in SAGE 50 and Sage Payroll. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing both sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, credit control, and more. Day to day of the role: Manage sales and purchase ledger activities.Perform bank account reconciliations and credit control tasks.Raise supplier payments via bank transfer.Prepare company accounts including P&L, trial balance, and balance sheet.Compile yearly accounts and quarterly VAT returns.Conduct monthly staff payroll processes.Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.Produce monthly management accounts and reports.Report on cash flow and download invoices to SAGE from our in-house service system.Maintain continual communication with office management and the service department. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proficiency in bank reconciliation and credit control.Extensive knowledge of SAGE 50 accounts and Sage 50 Payroll.Ability to produce accurate financial reports and manage multiple accounting functions.Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
