We produce sandwiches, wraps, rolls, bircher pots and toasties for some of the biggest retailers in the UK including Starbucks, Aldi, Cafe Nero and the Munch brand sold in WH Smith travel outlets. As a Product Development Technologist your role will be to validate product developments and provide appropriate documentation and support to promote customer acceptance through to seamless product launches. Key Responsibilities: Input recipes onto the recipe management system to assess the cost and nutritional information and ensure delivery against the briefBrief new, revised and repeat material requirements to the NPD buyers and packaging innovation team to ensure the correct resources are available for product developmentPrepare all necessary documentation (feasibility forms, customer submission forms, concept to process handovers etc.) to ensure their accurate prior to product developer approvalAssist with the preparation of kitchen made samples as required to support the chefs/product developers in preparation for internal panels, nutritional testing and customer presentationsPlan, set up and prepare product, coordinating the ordering or purchasing of products for all sample requests booking courier transportation as required, document the findings and action plan for next steps to deliver a professional internal product panel for EPD, NPD and benchmarkingComplete kitchen organoleptic testing throughout the product shelf-life cycle documenting the findings and making suggestions for recipe reformulations to ensure the required shelf-life is achieved and quality standards are maintainedFollow the critical path timelines as directed, escalating and mitigating incomplete tasks and risks to prevent delays in product acceptance and launchConsideration and inclusion of sustainability to all NPD and EPD applying rationale to development of products and supporting data input and collationAccurate labelling of products and boxing of samples to be sent externallyBuy ingredient supplies and benchmark samples when required This role will also require some travel to customers and retailers and therefore you must hold a full UK driving license and have access to your own vehicle. What you'll be doing In this position, we are seeking a seasoned Product Development Manager capable of making an immediate impact, supporting our Food to Go business for our esteemed customer, M&S. Your role will be to lead customer/category Product Development (PD) activity to achieve Greencore's great food and commercial targets, deliver right first time launches and act as the customer's first point of contact. Responsible for the project management of all customer /category PD activity to meet the critical path Input product knowledge and customer insight within category team to ensure product development is aligned with all key customer requirements and meets financial measurements Lead feasibility meetings ensuring that people are kept informed of all activity regularly and ensure actions are completed Lead the feasibility meetings ensuring all outputs are deliver to the right standard Ensure that technical and quality standards are achieved whilst maximising profitability Build and maintain customer relationships acting as the dedicated contact to provide accurate and consistent communication internally and externally whilst identifying and resolving issues promptly Develop the team capability through task focused coaching to ensure maximum performance and development to their potential Stakeholder management of operational peers to promote collaborative ways of working and delivery of the NPD agenda Custodian of product quality, ensuring accurate margin target delivery against the commercial brief What we're looking for A solid understanding of Product Development within food manufacturing is critical to this role.
