Project Escort is needed at HMP Grendon Prison to escort contractors around the prison - weekdays only. As one of the leading agency suppliers to the HM Prison Service, for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit Project Escorts to accompany building contractors around HMP Grendon & Springhill Prison. Although this will start as a temporary role, you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position or other roles within the prison service during this time. It is likely that the duration will be extended. However, that will be based on the works being completed on time by the building contractor involved. As part of the security team, you will be responsible for assisting with the safety and security of the establishment, where your duties will include escorting visitors and building contractors, as well as gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a prison establishment whilst people from outside the prison service are on-site. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment. Your duties will be to escort contractors, visitors and vehicles in and around the prison, making sure that nobody / anything goes in or out of the prison without authorisation. A major part of your role is to ensure that any tools that the tradesmen bring into the prison are also taken out, as tools going missing in any prison environment is unacceptable. Although no formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role, the nature of the Contractor Escort position requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks. You will also need to be reliable and consistent, level-headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Full training is provided by the establishment/department, which is fully paid for. A security check on yourself will be carried out. However, this can be done fairly quickly and should allow you to start within 2 weeks, depending on your own situation. You will work Monday - Friday from 7.00am to 4.00pm. Your new companyYou will be working for HMP Eastwood Park, located in Wotton-under-edge, as a Security Officer at HMP Eastwood Park, which is a local prison holding sentenced prisoners. It is a Women's closed prison and has a capacity of around 450 prisoners.Your new roleWe have an exciting new carbon-neutral project coming up, and are looking for 6 security officers to assist with contractors on site. Working as a Security Officer, you will be working alongside the operational security team. You will be responsible for escorting/assisting contractors as they carry out maintenance work around the prison, visitor checks, toolkit checks, main gate duties and vehicle searches. You will assist with the safety of visitors around the site and ensure no unauthorised items enter the site. This role is 37-hours per week. It is a temporary contract which is a minimum of 3 months on a rolling basis and dependent on how long the project is for and how long the contractors take.Rate (inclusive of holidays): £13.10 per hour.Overtime is paid at an enhanced rate of pay.Due to the location of this vacancy, you will need a vehicle, as there is limited public transport. In this role, you will be working for HMPPS as a Prison Security Escort at HMYOI Wetherby.Rates are dependent on experienceYour new roleYou will be responsible for: Documentation of Contractors' tools and equipmentEscorting Contractors to their area of work ensuring all security gates/doors and locked accordinglyEnsuring the safe keeping of the contractors and their tools and equipment whilst work is being carried outEscorting Contractors back to the main gate of the prison ensuring all security gates/doors are locked accordinglyDocumentation of Contractors contractor's tools and equipment upon leaving the establishment to ensure nothing has been misplaced.
