Description

This DevOps Engineer Program will provide you with a thorough understanding of Maven, a build automation tool used in the DevOps workflow. The course starts with an introduction to Maven, where you will learn about the topics covered in the course and how Maven helps a DevOps engineer.

Next, you will set up Maven on Windows, which involves installing Java, and Eclipse, and creating your first Maven project. You will also learn about Maven coordinates, the default directory structure, and the steps to build a Java project.

Moving on, you will learn about pom.xml, a Maven configuration file, and how it works. You will also learn about Maven repositories, the deployment goal for local storage, and how to push a Maven project onto GitHub.

The course then transitions to Linux, where you will create an EC2 instance, set up Maven, and build a Maven project. You will also learn about creating a project with Maven archetype, plugins and dependencies in pom.xml, settings.xml file, Tomcat server configurations, and deploying a war on a Tomcat server.

Finally, you will learn about using Maven in a DevOps workflow, including Jenkins installation, adding a Maven build server as an agent to Jenkins, and building a war file on an agent node using Maven.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
