Description

The ICDL (international Computer Driving License) certification is a highly recognised qualification, it offers you a key recognition of your literacy in computer skills and is designed for novices or casual computer users and will get you to a high computer literacy standard. The ICDL Certification is the fastest growing IT user qualification in over 125 countries, with many UK companies setting the ICDL as a mandatory requirement, such as the NHS and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Without basic computer skills one can be quite cumbersome in the office, limiting their roles and value. Some employers or companies may not even consider you as a candidate without a reasonable level of computer skills. The ICDL certification training is designed for novices or casual computer users that will take learners to a high computer literacy standard by improving your knowledge on these key areas:

Presentations
Spreadsheets
Word Processing
Databases
Improving productivity using IT

Following the success of the ICDL qualification, the ICDL Foundation launched ICDL Advanced as a progression route to further increase the level of IT competency throughout the UK & Ireland and the world. If you want to develop your IT skills to an advanced level, or if you are already an Office user, then ICDL Advanced is the qualification for you. Advanced modules certify skills that enable you to become a 'power user' and perform advanced actions in four of the most commonly used applications by building on your ICDL Base & Standard certifications. The ICDL Advanced Modules are:

Advanced Word Processing - In this module candidates can demonstrate their ability to use the advanced features of Word Processing applications to enhance their work, improve productivity, create advanced and unique documents and save time. Completion of this module will enable candidates to demonstrate professionalism and save time in the creation, production, review, and distribution of documents.

Advanced Spreadsheets - This module presents candidates with the opportunity to bring their spreadsheet skills to an expert level. Completion of this module will enable candidates to master the advanced formulas and functions of spreadsheet applications, enabling them to produce more sophisticated reports, and to perform complex mathematical and statistical calculations, thus saving time and improving productivity in the completion of tasks.

Advanced Database - This module enables candidates to use the many advanced tools available in database applications to better manage and organise structured information. Successful completion of this module will enable candidates to maximise database functions, in order to manage and analyse high volumes of data, thus enabling the production of the quantity and quality of information that business today demands.

Advanced Presentation -This module is for candidates who wish to create effective, appealing, high-impact presentations using advanced features and who need to be able to prove their skills in this area. The programme covers advanced presentation features that will allow candidates to use the presentation application to its full potential, and to plan and design more effective presentations that have greater impact and that will better engage and involve an audience.

Improving productivity using IT -This is the ability to plan, evaluate and improve procedures involving the use of IT tools and systems to improve the productivity and efficiency of tasks and activities. A user can plan and review their use of predefined or commonly used IT tools for activities that are straightforward or routine.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
