You will learn about the specific roles that micronutrients and antioxidants play in the immune system and explore the potential impact of micronutrient deficiency on the risk of infectious and non-infectious diseases. You will also explore whether the use of vitamin and mineral supplements can be beneficial in preventing viral infections such as cold and flu
.
Diet and auto-immune conditions
Auto-immune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis and allergies are increasingly common. You will learn how diet is implicated in the development of some auto-immune conditions. You will also learn about the evidence supporting the effectiveness of different dietary approaches in managing the symptoms of auto-immune conditions.
