Description

Learning outcomes

  • You will know the expected developmental milestones for the Prime Areas of the EYFS for babies and toddler aged 0-3 years
  • You will understand your role in helping a child reach these milestones, and the importance of forming close bonds with the child / children you care for
  • You will understand the factors affecting development, such as health and socio-economic status, and the importance of creating a language-rich, safe, and challenging environment for young children
  • You will be able to nurture language, physical, and social-emotional development at home or in your early years setting

Advantages of this course

  • You can have a huge impact on how well a child develops in their early years. If you know how to nurture development and form close bonds with a young child, then you will help the child develop important life skills, positive traits, and positive relationships with other adults in the future. This course suggests activities, interactions, and tips for working with insecurely attached children that will help you make a positive impact on their young life.
  • There are 8 wonderful videos by Born Smart showing good practice in interacting with children aged 1 month - 36 months. They show either a mother or father interacting with their child, but the interactions can also be tried by early years practitioners.
  • Additional activities, and a Case Study, encourages you to reflect on your learning and put it into practice
  • There is also suggested extended learning that gives both practical information and links to websites to expand knowledge

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Laser e-Certificate (included in the course price). You will also have the option of purchasing a CACHE Endorsed e-Certificate for an additional £4.99.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
