Description

Topics also included are wounds, fractures, dislocations, injuries to the head, neck, back, eyes, ears or nose, poisoning, bites or stings and electric shock.

This qualification consists of two units and is provided over a period of 2 days with a minimum contact time of 6 hours per unit. Our Paediatric courses meet the latest learning outcomes laid down by the Awarding Organisations.

The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage is a document published by The Department for Children, Schools and Families and applies to Early Years childcare within England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Statutory Framework states that ‘at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present. There must be at least one person on outings who has a current paediatric first aid certificate.’ The TQUK Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is recognised as a qualification that fulfils this need.

To comply with current requirements in the childcare sector, you must take this qualification again after three years. This must be taken as the two days again, there is no shorter course if you have taken the course before.

All successful students will be issued with a Paediatric First Aid Certificate. The childcare sector dictates, that to be valid when working in the childcare sector, learners must retake the Paediatric First Aid qualification before the expiry of 3 years from the date that the original qualification was achieved.

Each learner who completes this course will be awarded UCAS points that will contribute to their progression into higher education. UCAS tariff points translate qualifications and grades into a numerical value which is then used by higher education course providers to assess whether learners have met their entry requirements. While universities will have their own entry requirements, this new points system gives learners the opportunity to generate more UCAS points to support their progression into university.

All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021 as per the HSE requirements.

Please be advised that the classroom course has a minimum age requirement of 14.

The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
