Applying for jobs

Once you've clicked 'Apply now' on a job description page, the title of your current CV will appear. Next to this, there are links to 'View this CV' and 'Change CV'.

Click 'View this CV' to check the CV being sent with your application. If you want to send a different CV, click 'Change CV', locate the file containing your updated CV and select one of the upload options that are available.

Your new CV will replace the CV on your Reed.co.uk account and will be used for any future applications you make, until you upload a new version.

Once you've applied for a role, you'll be directed to a page confirming that your application has been sent to the recruiter. You'll also receive an email from Reed.co.uk confirming that your application has been sent. Your CV will be emailed directly to the employer or recruitment consultant who is handling the vacancy.

If the recruiter requires jobseekers to make applications on their own website, you'll be taken to the recruiter's site in order to complete your application.

You'll receive an automated email from Reed.co.uk to confirm that your application has been successfully sent.

If you don't receive a confirmation email and you're unsure whether your application has been sent, you can try doing the following:

  • Check the spam filters in your email account
  • Add no-reply@e.reed.co.uk to your address book or safe list
  • Check that the email address for your Reed.co.uk account is correct by signing in. To do this on desktop, click on your name in the top right hand corner of any page and select 'Account'. On tablet or mobile, this can be found in the side menu on the top left corner.
  • Sign in and on desktop click on your name in the top right hand corner of any page and click 'Jobs applied for' to view all your applications. For tablet or mobile users, this can be found in the side menu on the top left hand corner.

There are over 9,000 recruiters advertising jobs on Reed.co.uk, including direct employers and recruitment agencies, as well as Reed branches. Each job posted on reed.co.uk states which company the vacancy is being handled by.

If you've applied for a job advertised by a Reed branch, consultants will usually respond to you within seven days if they're interested in progressing your application.

You can find recruiters' contact details by clicking on your name in the top right hand corner of any page when you're signed in and then clicking 'Jobs applied for'. For tablet or mobile users, this can be found in the side menu on the top left corner. All of the jobs you've applied for in the last three months are listed in this section.

Recruiters advertising on Reed.co.uk can choose how long to advertise their jobs for. Most jobs stay on reed.co.uk for between one and six weeks, but some jobs may be on the site for as long as a year.

If you'd like to report a job to a member of Reed.co.uk's Customer Support Team, you can do so in one of two ways.

If you've already applied for a recruiter's job, on desktop, click your name in the top right hand corner of any page when you're signed in, and click 'Jobs applied for'. For tablet and mobile users, this can be found in the side menu on the top left corner. You can then click 'Report a problem'.

If you haven't applied for the job yet, there's a link below each job description enabling you to report the job.

If you provide contact details, Reed.co.uk's Customer Support Team will respond to your enquiry as soon as possible.

If you decide, after applying for a role, that it isn't quite right for you, you can easily withdraw your application.

To withdraw an application, simply:

  • Sign in, click your name in the top right hand corner of any page, and click 'Jobs applied for'. On tablet and mobile this can be found in the side menu on the top left corner.
  • Find the job for which you'd like to withdraw your application
  • Click 'Withdraw application', and confirm

When you withdraw an application, the recruiter no longer has online access to your CV or personal details on Reed.co.uk.

Once you've withdrawn an application, you can't re-apply for the job through Reed.co.uk. If you want to change something related to your application (such as your CV), we'd recommend contacting the recruiter using the email address on the 'Jobs applied for' page.
