Advanced Industry Skills Coach - Animal Management & Veterinary Care

Full time 37 hours per week/52 weeks per year

Permanent

Salary; Upto £37,496 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

Location; Dearne Valley College, Rotherham

About the Role

If you are a qualified veterinary specialist wanting to pass on your knowledge and skills this may be the role for you! You will be responsible for delivering high quality of education across the Animal care provision at DVC from Level 1 to Level 5, including T Levels and Higher Technical Qualifications.

The key role of an Advanced Industry Skills Coach is to provide up to date industry knowledge, and deliver strong practical teaching, training and assessment, ensuring students reach their potential through high-quality self-guided learning. You will work collaboratively with students, Animal Care technicians and external stakeholders to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of the animals, reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, insects and nocturnal animals.

We want to support our local economy to restart and meet the needs of our employers by developing highly skilled local talent. To do this we need to work with industry experts, as an Advanced Industry Skills Coach, you will be imperative in coaching and tutoring our students to ensure they develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to be successful in the future.

You will…

hold a relevant veterinary qualification at level 3 or above in animal care and for our higher education learning programmes you should hold a degree.

You must hold a relevant teaching qualification, or be willing to work towards.

You will have the ability to deliver a quality teaching, learning and assessment experiences across a range of levels in Further Education. You will need to be passionate and engaging with the ability to bring the subject matter to life and make it a positive experience with a wide variety of learners.

Department Info

The Animal Care Curriculum Area opened in September 2020 and offers courses from Level 1 to Level 6 in Animal Care and Animal Management. With a wide variety of animals housed in our modern facilities, now is a very exciting time to join our team!

Your line manager will be the Curriculum Director and/or Curriculum Manager.  You will regularly report on your objectives to update your Programme Leader / Curriculum Leader regarding a range of KPI’s including (but not limited to) student recruitment, retention, anticipated achievement, attendance and punctuality.
