Located in Southwark, Newlands Academy is an 11-16 special school catering to boys with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).

When it comes to looking after our pupils, we never settle for second best. We are looking for an SLT Teaching Lead and SENDCo with the experience, leadership skills and vision to build incredible futures for our students.

You will be responsible for leading on the Quality of Education and SEND, lead on teaching and the strategic direction and development of SEND provision across the school. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and modelling exceptional teaching and SEND practice across the school, working closely with the Principal, leadership Team, and Governing body.

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced teaching leader and hold the National Award for SEND Coordinators and/or is willing to undertake the new NPQSENDCos. Demonstrated excellence as a classroom teacher is essential.

The Academy is part of Academies Enterprise Trust, one of the largest multi-academy trusts in England consisting of 57 schools across the Primary, Secondary and Special phases. As a specialist provision we ensure that we have a multi agency approach so that we comprehensively meet the needs of our children and young people with SEMH. Newlands Academy provides an ambitious curriculum that supports the students to close the gaps in their learning and achieve success through a variety of pathways allowing them to move onto appropriate post 16 placements. The Academy aims for the majority of KS4 students to follow a GCSE pathway with alternative routes tailored to meet the needs of all students. TA targeted intervention programme is run for all students with further opportunities to access therapeutic, and psychological care packages to support the students to overcome and manage their SEMH diagnosis and thrive in wider society.
