Building Control Supervisor - Essex

£60.00 ph (Umbrella)

37 hours per week- Monday-Friday – 3+ Month Contract

Kerry Collins are working alongside a well established client in Essex, seeking a Building Control Supervisor for a 3+ Month Temporary Contract starting immediately.

The successful candidate will be Registered as a Class 2, category A Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator and have a Building Surveying Degree and have a minimum of five years, relevant experience.

In place of a Building Surveying Degree, our client would consider someone who has a Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or Membership of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (MCABE) or Membership of the Chartered institute of Building MCIOB

Must have a detailed knowledge of all aspects of the relevant legislation; the Building Act, Building Regulations and up to date construction methods.

Some of the Main Duties and responsibilities of the role will be:


To evaluate Building Regulation applications for compliance with the Building Regulations and all allied legislation, and reject, approve, or approve conditionally.

To evaluate Approved Inspection Notices/Certificates for compliance with the legislation and approve, approve conditionally, or reject.

To carry out visits and inspections as necessary where building operations are proposed, in progress, or have been completed, to ensure compliance with the legislation, codes of practice or guidelines from time to time in force and in accordance with the general policies of the Service.

To attend dangerous structures to give advice, make decisions and to take any actions necessary; including the instruction of emergency contractors and liaising with other emergency services as required.

To consult and liaise with any external or internal person or bodies on matters relating to the work of the Service.

To serve notices and specifications as required by the Highways Advance Payment code and carry out enforcement action as and when such is deemed to be necessary.

To keep such statistical and written records of work carried out, complaints investigated etc as is required and to provide such information as is required/requested.

To carry out checks and examinations including the taking of samples or photographs as necessary to ensure proper compliance with the legislation.

To prepare evidence, statements and any other requirements for court hearings, public enquiries or similar and to take part in activities as required.
