We require a Civilian Investigator (Shifts) to cover an existing workload within British Transport Police, based in London Bridge (Office based).

This is an interim position for an initial 21 week with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.

Job Purpose:

  • The Investigator utilises a range of appropriate investigative approaches to gather material, placing the victim at the centre of all actions and decisions, to safely and effectively investigate serious and complex crimes with a view to achieving an appropriate outcome for that investigation. 
  • The team will be lead by a DS and the primarily focus will be Robberies and Sexual Offences investigations on BTP jurisdiction. 
  • The Investigator will be tasked to carry initial investigative actions as directed by the DS and help to support CID teams. 

Pay Rates:

  • PAYE: Mon – Fri Standard £23.73 / Saturday £28.75 / Sunday & Bank Holiday £37.95
  • Umbrella: Mon – Fri Standard £31.33 / Saturday £36.16 / Sunday & Bank Holiday £50.50

Shifts:

  • Earliest start 7am & latest finish 11pm

Skills and experience needed to be successful in this role:

  • PIP2 trained.
  • VRI trained.
  • Knowledge of Niche.
  • Robbery / sexual offences investigative experience. 
  • Good communication skills with the ability to listen, empathise, provide support and adapt language, form, and message to meet the needs of different people / audiences.
  • Skilled in the use of use IT packages, systems and/or databases to fulfil role requirements.
  • Able to break down a complex problem into component parts and determine appropriate action in investigations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives, demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support and advice as required.
  • Able to plan own work and plan ahead, as well as identify and mitigate risks to delivery.
  • Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Able to produce clear and concise reports and other documents within best practice procedures – in particular written statements.
  • Having a good understanding of the Criminal Justice System.
