Robert Half are pleased to be partnering with a scale up business in Cambridge looking for their next Credit Controller. Purpose of the role The Credit Controller will be responsible for accounts receivable activity for group companies (UK and in Europe). This role is hybrid (home and office based), and attendance is expected at a company chosen venue on a once per week basis as well as monthly Company wide gatherings.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for raising all invoicing across the acquiring and revenue streams, including issuing account statements.
  • Responsible for debt collection process, both Direct Debit and manual process, including applying overdue debt process as appropriate.
  • Ensure cash collection is in line with company credit terms and customer ledgers are up to date with timely allocation. Rigorous in application of process whilst able to consider debt on a case-by[1]case basis and liaise with customer relationship managers as to best course of action.
  • Own engagement with customers, relationship managers and customer support teams and external parties such as debt collection agency, direct debit service provider etc.
  • Forecasting cash collection.
  • Drive performance against KPIs as relevant to accounts receivable.
  • Provide regular debt and KPI updates through reporting and debt review meetings.
  • Ensure credit policy, debt collection process notes and gross settlement request process are up to date.
  • Assist General Ledger Accountant with transaction processing as appropriate outside of accounts receivable cycle.
  • Support in audit process as appropriate in relation to accounts receivable.

Role Requirements:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy and demonstrable experience in transactional accounting.
  • Experience of managing external stakeholders, eg auditors, HMRC etc.
  • Stakeholder management at senior level in prior organisations.
  • Proficient Excel Skills (pivots, sumifs, vlookup)
  • Sector experience desirable but not essential.

  • Thorough attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, including listening, negotiating and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to assess situations and to escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Have a proactive and solution driven approach.
  • Ability to work independently, to prioritise workload and be organised and systematic in way of working.
  • Be a team player, ready to step in and support or cover when needed.
