Data Analyst - Outside IR35 contract. AWS / Python / R / SQL

1 day per week in Lichfield

A leading organisation are building a mobile app and looking to build out a new Agile Team to develop Data Services within AWS. This is an opportunity to be a major player in re-architecting and modernising core data services to empower the business and our onward transformational journey.

Must be an experienced Data Analyst and be able to perform some Business Analyst activies such as the below:

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary Agile team to plan and support the definition, development and deployment of data products to provide a 360-degree view of the organisation
  • Conduct meetings, interviews and/or workshops with stakeholders to review existing information, understand objectives and to elicit data needs.
  • Analyse business processes and gather and define data and reporting requirements from business SMEs.
  • Collect, analyse and combine data from multiple disparate data sources.
  • Use statistical methods and techniques to explore and analyse data, identifying patterns, trends and relationships within datasets.
  • Manipulate data, automate tasks and perform complex analysis using programming languages such as Python, R and SQL
  • Create interactive dashboards and detailed reports to present data insights to end-users and senior stakeholders.
  • Use data visualisation tools to be able to help explain trends, insights and metrics for non-technical users.
  • Quantitative analysis, data exploration, and the presentation of data to interpret the numbers and understand how our users interact and utilise within their roles and decision-making processes.

Must have experience with:

  • 5+ years' experience in a Data Analyst role
  • 5+ years IT experience across all phases of software development lifecycle
  • Experience of using AWS (or other public cloud) to migrate, store, query, transform and present data, AWS Glue, Data Brew, Athena, Step Functions, Sage Maker, Kinesis, MSK, EMR, LakeFormation, etc.
  • Extensive experience of MS SQL Server, PostGreSQL, Oracle and other SQL databases
  • Solid understanding of data engineering tools to help create pipelines, ETL functions, pipeline co-ordination, etc.
  • Clear understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and documentation standards, including understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
  • Experience in using productivity tools Atlassian suites (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Bit bucket) and deep knowledge of build environments.
