The starting salary for this role is £40,296 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week (pro rata for part time staff).

We currently have two opportunities available: one full-time position (36 hours per week) and one part-time position (18 hours per week). Both are offered as fixed-term contracts or secondments until 31st August 2026.

About the team

As part of a wider team of experts in Economy & Growth, you will deliver their functions in a compliant and timely manner and ensure a wider strategic fit. Our aim as a team is to increase Surrey's productivity (GVA) and deliver socio-economic benefits ensuring no one is left behind by building on the county's economic strengths and local ambitions to support a resilient and high-value economy that contributes to sustainable growth across the UK.

We provide valued strategic services focusing on business support, innovation, skills, and places for the benefit of the county's 1.2 million residents. We work with partners and major employers (such as BAE Systems, AtkinsRealis, NHS, Surrey Satellite Technology Limited, and McLaren) to champion and futureproof the country's leading regional economy, which is home to 110,000 businesses and contributes £50 billion a year to UK economy.

About the Role

We are looking for dynamic Enterprise Coordinators to join the engine of the Surrey Careers Hub, part of a national network of Careers Hubs. In this exciting role you will be key to supporting schools and colleges to improve their careers strategy and activities across Surrey to and engage more effectively with our local businesses. Careers Hubs bring together schools, colleges, businesses, and training providers in a local area. Their goal is to work together and help schools and colleges improve how they prepare young people for their best next steps through:

  • Delivering a universal service, but one that targets inclusion and removing barriers, where they exist, for young people
  • Delivering programmes and events that support schools and colleges to deliver impactful careers programmes
  • Working directly with businesses to support them to engage effectively with the education system and develop their workforce of the future.
  • Building a system where high impact careers education, including experiences of the workplace for students, can continue long into the future

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Strengthening and building networks and partnerships across a range of stakeholders including schools and colleges, Careers Leaders, SENCOs, local and national businesses, local authorities, and careers support & training providers
  • Supporting businesses and Careers Leaders to work together to develop high quality and innovative careers programmes and activities, including modern approaches to experiences of the workplace.
  • Identifying and recruiting enthusiastic and committed businesses volunteers and linking them with schools and colleges to develop a careers programme that responds to the economic and strategic aims of Surrey and helps students make informed decisions about their best next steps after education.

This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by increasing their exposure to local employers and showcasing the diverse job opportunities available in Surrey. You will be expected to work collaboratively across the team to support shared economic outcomes.

Shortlisting Criteria

To succeed in this post, you will be able to work within complex systems with several different stakeholders. You will have experience managing tools and systems to oversee progress and supporting senior leaders in the delivery of their objectives. You will be able to quickly develop, and embed horizontal, cross-cutting delivery, supporting governance processes, and coordinating approaches with others to realise socio-economic benefits for Surrey.
