Our client, experts in the freight forwarding industry, offering Ocean Freight, Air Freight and Road Haulage Solutions, are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to be based at offices in Bradford, Yorkshire.

Main Purpose of the Role:

The Finance Assistant will play an essential role in providing support to the Finance Manager. Through maintaining financial systems, recording and processing financial information, data entry and general financial administration, the Finance Assistant will ensure effective financial management across the company.

Accountabilities of the Finance Assistant:

  • Providing clients and suppliers with a consistently first-class service
  • Supporting the business in its achievement of financial goals
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure a seamless client/supplier experience is maintained
  • Demonstration of Company’s core values

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Posting and reconciling bank accounts and cash books
  • Liaising with customers regarding their bills of lading including - emailing copies, dealing with payments and dispatching them as per the customers instructions
  • Daily bank transfers
  • Deal with customer and supplier queries
  • Undertake foreign currency re-valuations
  • Working closely with the commercial and operational teams across the business to provide financial support
  • Maintain and reconcile client and supplier accounts
  • Process and pay supplier invoices
  • Reconcile the petty cash every month after checking and posting all the receipts
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the business

To Be Considered:

  • A relevant Financial qualification (or studying towards)
  • At least two years’ experience of working in a similar financial role
  • High level of numeracy and financial awareness
  • A high level of computer literacy and knowledge of IT systems, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Experience of working in import/export freight forwarding would be an advantage however full training will be given
  • Experience of working with Sage 200 would be a distinct advantage
