Harmonic are delighted to be partnering exclusively with one of the fastest growing PE Backed Media Scale Up businesses in the UK, in their search for an Finance Director.

The Business

Our client is a renowned Media & Entertainment business that is on the way to becoming a household name, their core focus sits within distribution and production of films in partnership with major studios and streamers. With turnover currently at £100m, they are on course to double this next year with exciting projects, fundraising, and acquisitions. Having just received fundraising, this is a great opportunity to work in a fast-growth scale up in the entertainment industry.

The company operates a hybrid working policy with 3 days expected within their Central London offices, and 2 at home. They also manage to foster a real dynamic culture within the business. This is the ideal role for someone who wants to work in a creative, non-corporate environment that values collaboration, teamwork, and shares a passion for great TV and Film.

The Role:

As Finance Director, you'll oversee the day to day running of the finance and accounting function of the business, as well as providing commercial analysis, budgeting support, cashflow analysis, and forecast creation to support the organization's strategic aims.

Reporting to a talented CFO and overseeing 8 direct reports, this role provides a great, broad, and dynamic opportunity for a technically strong Finance Director to contribute to the impressive scale up journey of an exciting TV and Film business.

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous financial leadership experience, ideally in a PE or VC (Private Equity or Venture Capital) backed start up or scale up. A passion for media and TV and Film is important, as it's the crux of the business' culture. In addition, the ideal candidate will have both strong technical accounting skills as well as the ability to communicate efficiently with the Board, investors, and other internal and external stakeholders. This is a broad commercial and technical role, so it's a great opportunity for a Finance Director to get involved in all aspects of a dynamic and fast-growth business.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day to day running of the finance function
  • Manage 7-8 direct reports, providing them with guidance, support, and mentorship
  • Oversee the completion of Management Accounts, Month End, and Year End
  • Lead on financial and investor reporting
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including investors
  • Create budgets and forecasts for the business to account for future growth and expansion
  • Provide insight for management information to be presented to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Oversee Tax and Treasury processes
  • Support with process improvement and system transformation
  • Ad hoc tasks to support the CFO and the Senior Leadership Team

What we need to see (essential):

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • A passion for media and entertainment

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Previous experience in a PE or VC backed business
  • Previous experience in a scale up environment

Salary: £110,000 - £150,000 plus 30% discretionary bonus

Working Pattern: 3 days in-office, 2 days WFH
