Financial Controller

Thames Valley (hybrid)

I am seeking a progressive and energetic Financial Controller to join the expanding UK finance team for this impressive Real Estate client. Reporting to the Head of Finance (UK), the successful candidate will oversee responsibility for the financial reporting, tax, internal reporting for multiple property financial operations, cash management, Co.Sec and corporate operations.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of multiple entities within the corporate group, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage financial reporting, including the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and submissions to group.
  • Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Oversee preparation of specific performance and analytical reports for periodic board meetings and lender compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with departments such as acquisitions, asset management, and property management to assist with acquisition/sale processes, monitor property performance and support delivery of good service to occupiers of managed properties.
  • Provide leadership and develop the team to develop and implement internal controls, procedures to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Key Requirements:

  • ACA qualified with a top 10 firm (big 4 preferred)
  • Experience from a similar role within the Real Estate, Property, Asset Management sector (corporate / multi-company group experience preferred).
  • Impressive analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Leadership and staff development skills
  • Integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Highly desirable

  • Familiarity with taxation regulations
  • Previous experience of delivering operational efficiency through automation or improved controls and processes.

Advantageous

  • Understanding of UK property service charge operation and accounting
  • Up to date knowledge of UK GAAP accounting standards
