High Hazard Facilities Consultant - A specialist Safety and Environmental Consultancy is seeking a High Hazard Facilities Consultant to join their growing team. This company provides independent, expert, value for money, and operated with integrity, openness, and trust services to their diverse client portfolio.

Job Description The High Hazard Facilities Consultant will be responsible for assisting with the development of explosive, biological, and chemical equipment and facility safety management programs, core safety activities, and Safety Cases on behalf of clients. The successful candidate will be involved in the following tasks:

  • The development and production of Safety Cases
  • Hazard Identification
  • Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) and Structured What If Technique (SWIFT) analysis
  • Bowtie and Layers Of Protection Analysis (LOPA) assessments
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Sentencing
  • The development and implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Safety Management Plans (SMP)
  • Business development and Client liaison activities
  • Organisation, preparation, and attendance at client meetings
  • The drafting of technical reports
  • Data input into customer software systems
  • Compliance and implementation of work in accordance with the Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001)
The High Hazard Facilities Consultant will also be expected to be involved within Business Development and Marketing activities to further develop the company's customer base and technical capabilities. Regular visits will be required to the various offices and to contractor and customer sites further afield within the UK and potentially abroad.

Requirements
  • A defence and/or consultancy background, ideally with several years’ relevant experience providing technical support and/or engineering management in this specialist area
  • A good understanding of safety management within this technical area and be familiar with the relevant regulations and standards including DSA03-OME, Def-Stan 00-56 and ER2014
  • Suitable professional qualifications and ideally be a member of an appropriate professional institution, noting that the company is happy to consider equivalences for the right candidate
  • A proven track record in supporting business development activities would be desirable but not essential
  • A smart, professional approach and the ability to fit in quickly into a growing flexible team
  • Excellent communication skills and a high standard of English and grammar supported with a sound technical engineering background
  • The ability to be highly effective in organising your own time and workload, especially when working from home
  • The ability to obtain UK security clearance due to the nature of the work
Salary and Benefits This company offers a basic salary in the range of £50,000 to £60,000 gross per annum, depending on experience. In addition, they offer:
