Seven Resourcing are looking for Housing Management Officer to work in Darlington. This position is initially for a period of 6 months and is paying between £15.44ph PAYE or £19.05ph Umbrella.  This role is full time Monday to Friday 9am-5:30pm.

The role:

To carry out housing management duties in a specific area of the town, in close liaison and partnership with tenants, residents, members, other sections and departments and voluntary and statutory organisations to promote and develop inclusive and sustainable areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tenancy Matters - Involving a wide variety of individual tasks associated with enforcement of housing policy, for instance alterations, social problems, tenancy support, neighbour nuisances.
  • Liaison - Working closely with other sections, departments and outside agencies to provide a holistic approach to housing management issues.
  • Housing Maintenance - Visiting and inspecting properties and the general area resulting from tenant enquiries and estate inspections - scheduling all work required and ordering via the computer, to ensure best quality/price is achieved.
  • Void Properties - Carrying out void property inspections and prepare schedule of repair/decoration, arrange and undertake accompanied views, completing all tenancy documentation and computer records to ensure that properties are let as efficiently and expeditiously as possible.
  • Rent Control - Monitoring individual cases, provide advice, liaising closely with Housing Benefits, Legal Services and taking appropriate recovery action, culminating in eviction where necessary.
  • Housing Applications - Interview applicants, input, visiting and completing computer reports, liaising closely with partner organisations as appropriate, identify suitable applicants and offer property to ensure effective use of the property.
  • Care of the Estates - Quality control of estate management functions by regular checks and estate inspections, undertaken in partnership with residents, members, other sections, departments and organisations, as appropriate.
  • Major Works - Work in close liaison and partnership with the Asset Management Team and Services Managers, assist in the delivery of major programmes of work, by liaising with tenants on matters such as programmes of work, tenants choice items and liaison with contractors.
  • Correspondence and Reports - Respond to written and verbal enquiries, prepare reports, provide regular articles for tenants/residents newsletters.
  • Effective Working - Work with Ward Councillors/MP/tenants and their representatives, voluntary and statutory agencies to ensure effective communication and development of good working relations to promote inclusive, sustainable communities.
  • Ensure that you work in line with all the Council's policies and procedures and ensure that you are aware of your obligations under these.
  • Behave according to the Employees' Code of Conduct and ensure that you are aware of your obligations and responsibilities re: conflicts of interest, gifts, hospitality and other matters covered by the Code.
  • Carry out your role in line with the Council's Equality agenda.
  • To comply with health and safety policies, organisational statements and procedures, report any incidents / accidents/ hazards and take a pro-active approach to health and safety matters in order to protect yourself and others.
  • Any other duties of a similar nature related to this post that may be required from time-to-time.

  • This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure.  The successful applicant will be subject to the relevant vetting checks before an offer of appointment is confirmed.  Following appointment the employee will be subject to rechecking as required from time to time by the Council.

Applicant Requirements:

Experience: 2 years' experience in a similar role.

Compliance: 2 years references & Enhanced DBS

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
