Lead Support Tutor 

32 hour position available (38 weeks term time working)
Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme
Salary:  £33,311 per annum pro rata (£24,875 actual)

In November 2019 Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) became the first further education provider in England to achieve outstanding grades in every area of Ofsted’s recently reformed Education Inspection Framework (EIF).

The group is currently home to a population of over 6,000 full-time students and around 500 students on higher education programmes. We have over 4,000 part-time or adult learners and 2,000 apprentices where we work with over 800 individual employers.  Our Sixth Form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence

You will be responsible for delivering and organising additional learning support to ensure the care and education needs of students with physical and learning difficulties/disabilities are met.

You will be a person who can positively engage with a vocational area(s), its Curriculum Leaders, teaching staff, ALS Manager, Group Head of ALS, EHCP Co-ordinator and the Assistant Principal for Student Services and DSL to identify students who require additional support.

In close liaison with the Additional Learning Support Manager to carry out Additional Support Initial Interviews and/or EHC plan comments and feedback for prospective and current  students.   

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

•    You will lead the associated Learning Support Assistants in the delivery of support within class ensuring effective utilisation of Learning Support Assistants through timetabling, support and guidance
•    To deliver support within class, through 1:1 and small group sessions to support students in relation to their individual learning/physical needs and the requirements of their chosen area of study 
•    Engage in core duties including planning, preparation, developing and preparing adapted learning materials, marking, monitoring and tracking of student progress, preparing reports, setting targets, attending vocational programme meetings and regular meetings of Lead Support Tutors and  the Student Services Manager

Required Skills and Experience:

•    Holds or willing to train for an appropriate support qualification at level 3 or above.
•    Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.
•    Has experience of using a range of screening tools to identify learners that may have additional learning needs.
•    Meets the JCQ criteria to assess for exam access arrangements
