An outstanding opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a great team in a value-add role on a contract basis (12 months). It is envisaged that you will be a fully qualified accountant and probably already working in industry as either a Financial Accountant or a Management Accountant. Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices, experience in financial accounting and reporting plus the ability to present complex accounting information in an easy-to-understand format will all be markers of your success.

Key responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Engineering Business Units and Finance Team to develop and improve accurate, timely financial reports tailored to their needs and that of the business.
  • Assist the Finance Director to identify the drivers of and risks to business unit performance with tailored reports and financial analysis.
  • Manage the WIP sheet for machined items and projects, updating operational forecasts and reviewing contract margins.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and management information packs to track business performance.
  • Co-ordinating the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts and KPIs, analysing and reporting on variances, managing tax compliance processes, SAO compliance, and the monthly and year end management accounts processes.
  • Developing and measuring key financial performance indicators aligned with company strategy for continuous improvement.
  • Developing financial processes, and tools for timely and effective management reporting.
  • Assisting in the preparation of financial reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders.

What you need for the role.

  • A relevant accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or relevant experience
  • Good working knowledge of accounting standards and principles
  • Ability to prepare management accounts from Trial Balance.
  • Ability to prepare budgets and forecasts covering multiple reporting periods,
  • The ability to communicate well and develop an excellent working relationship with both finance and non-finance staff at all levels across the business.
  • To be able to analyse, interrogate and interpret financial reports and accounts whilst providing commercial input and challenge to the relevant management teams.
