Design Engineer
  • Salary: £25,000 - £40,000 per year
  • Location: Bury St. Edmunds
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our innovative team, focusing on designing special purpose machinery machinery. This role offers the unique opportunity to be involved in the entire lifecycle of a product, from concept to commissioning. Our client is committed to designing and manufacturing bespoke equipment in the UK, tailored to our customers’ specific needs.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Design processing plants and detail them to individual component level using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Produce comprehensive parts drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and assembly drawings for the Production Team.
  • Conduct site surveys and work closely with customers to provide technical solutions and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with customers to design and develop innovative new products.
  • Engage with suppliers to determine the best materials and solutions for projects.
  • Manage projects from concept to installation and commissioning, coordinating with customers, sales, and manufacturing teams on challenging projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or a similar 3D CAD package.
  • Experience in a related field, such as conveyors or structural engineering, is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
  • A practical mindset and willingness to engage hands-on when necessary.
