Foodbuy were awarded the contract to procure food for the NHS in 2018 and we now have a dedicated team in place to focus on public sector procurement and delivering the requirements and ultimately savings for the NHS.


This exciting role leads and builds the Dietetic Strategy for nutritional compliance, making a real difference not only to NHS Supply Chain: Food, but to the health and wellbeing of the NHS patient, staff and visitors. The Nutrition Compliance Manager will define and transform the way NHS Supply Chain: Food operates in regards to nutrition, to ensure NHS Trusts can deliver against their obligations under the Hospital Food Standards including any other mandatory targets which would fall into the scope of this role.

The role requires extensive collaboration with internal stakeholders across Foodbuy functions, specifically on the NHS Supply Chain: Food contract. It is integral to the contractual targets in how NHS Supply Chain: Food continue to create and deliver value to the NHS and grow volumes.


Responsibilities:


  • Build the nutrition and compliance strategy roadmap, short, medium and long-term project plans
  • Manage the development and implementation of processes to measure performance and continuous improvement across frameworks to Hospital Food Standards (inc Public Health England targets)
  • Actively engage and collaborate with category buyers to monitor supplier’s nutrition & health policies and use insights to develop nutrition incentives to drive framework growth 
  • Launch supplier performance scorecard across the supply base
  • Proactively manage supply compliance to Hospital Food Standards for NHS trusts via engagement with stakeholders in trusts, auditing, ongoing monitoring and analysis
  • Lead commitments around plant forward eating across the NHS and wellbeing via Culinary Concept recipes and other incentives
  • Advise and input into tender documentation including specifications to include relevant standards, such legal requirements to display nutrition labelling and Government Buying Standards for Food
  • Actively promote added value services internally and externally driving savings and revenue for key trusts
  • Consistently inspire delivery across the NHS Supply Chain: Food team to enable positive change and quality to the food service in the NHS. This includes actively work with culinary, procurement and account management teams to provide nutritional support ensuring food is government compliant
  • Actively participate in external webinars, networking events and industry working groups to build knowledge, reputation and brand 
  • Responsible for internal dietetic training and delivery across the business and play a supportive role in the delivery of culinary training

Key skills, knowledge and experience required: 


  • Degree in Nutrition/ Dietetics
  • Experience working as a Dietitian or Registered Nutritionist
  • HCPC or UKVRN registration 
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development 
  • Experienced in facilitation of product switching and sampling sessions with relevant stakeholders 
  • Prepared to undertake travel to sites across England, including overnight stays as required by the business
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passionate about food with a good understanding of trends
  • A confident communicator with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and work across multiple teams
  • Experience of using MS Office – Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Develop an understanding of how NHS hospitals provide patient feeding solutions
  • Ability to question and communicate oral and written information concisely and logically 
  • Ability to effectively plan and organise own multiple work streams within tight timescales
  • Flexible working pattern, to include infrequent work and travel in evenings and some weekends
  • Car driver
