We are looking for a Metering Operations Manager to manage our transition to smart metering. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our metering services and deliver exceptional service to our customers whilst upholding our values of Service, Commitment, Innovation, Compassion, Collaboration and Integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership:Manage and support the field-based metering team, conducting performance reviews, assessing training needs, and ensuring health and safety standards are met.
  • Customer Focus:Play a pivotal role in our move to smart metering, helping shape the best outcomes for customers and the business identifying trends to improve service delivery.
  • Performance Management:Achieve KPI targets including meter fits/exchange numbers, cancellation rates, and days taken for installations.
  • Quality Control:Ensure systems reports are accurate and updated on the dashboard, and that meters are installed in line with the Metering Policy.
  • Collaboration:Work with contracted service providers and other departments to maintain high service standards and maximize team efficiency.
  • Cost Management:Authorize payments for meter installations/replacements, adhering to strict cost controls.
  • Health & Safety:Drive a zero-compromise approach to health, safety, and wellbeing while maintaining high standards of water quality, street works compliance, and customer service.

What We're Looking For

  • Educational Background:Good standard of numeracy and literacy (GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths). A full driving license is essential. A-levels or similar qualifications are desirable.
  • Experience:A relevant operational position with previous experience of supervising staff.
  • Skills:Ability to make effective judgements within established procedures, strong computer literacy, and health and safety training. Knowledge of GIS mapping systems is a plus.
  • Personal Qualities:Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, teamwork, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Strong communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised are essential. A willingness to learn new skills and possess coaching and leadership qualities are highly desirable.
