Payroll Assistant

Due to an internal promotion our client located in East Swindon is recruiting a Payroll Assistant to joint their team.

Day to day responsibilities for the Payroll Assistant will include:

  • Working alongside the Payroll Manager, assisting in the pre and post payroll for 320 FTE’s
  • Assist with updating the payroll spreadsheet and COINS with new starters and leavers.
  • Process expenses claims including mileage.
  • Update details for starters, leavers and salary changes directly into the online portal for life assurance.
  • Submission of required PAYE and NIC reporting to HMRC in accordance with deadlines
  • Scan and attach evidence to the entry in finance ERP.
  • Provide cover within the wider Finance team when required.
  • Monthly maintenance of PSA expenses.
  • Monthly posting of time log journal.
  • Monitor and respond to Payroll inbox.
  • First point of call for all colleagues’ questions and queries, in person, on the phone and via email
  • Ad hoc reporting as required.

The right candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • A minimum of 1 year’s payroll experience
  • Intermediate Microsoft office skills in particular Excel
  • Be friendly, efficient, and committed.

In return for this payroll vacancy:

  • Salary up to £27K + 5% bonus paid annually
  • 40 hour working week, flexible working hours between 7am and 7pm
  • Hybrid working available once trained.
  • 27 days annual leave + BH (3/4 days taken for Christmas & New Year)
  • Pension x 1.5 of what employee puts in up to 7.5%.
