A primary school in the LS6 area is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support in Key Stage 1. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
Day-to-day of the role:- Provide 1:1 support to a Key Stage 1 pupil with special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
- Work closely with the class teacher to implement individual learning plans and track the pupil’s progress.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials tailored to the pupil’s needs.
- Encourage the pupil’s engagement in learning and social activities, adapting approaches as needed.
- Monitor and support the pupil’s emotional well-being, acting as a positive role model.
- Facilitate communication between the pupil, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to the pupil’s education and care.
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment at all times.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly within a school setting.
- Understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and how to adapt it to meet the needs of SEN pupils.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and pupils.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging attitude.
- A relevant teaching assistant or SEN qualification is desirable.
