A primary school in the LS6 area is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support in Key Stage 1. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.

• Provide 1:1 support to a Key Stage 1 pupil with special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
• Work closely with the class teacher to implement individual learning plans and track the pupil’s progress.
• Assist with the preparation of learning materials tailored to the pupil’s needs.
• Encourage the pupil’s engagement in learning and social activities, adapting approaches as needed.
• Monitor and support the pupil’s emotional well-being, acting as a positive role model.
• Facilitate communication between the pupil, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to the pupil’s education and care.
• Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment at all times.

• Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly within a school setting.
• Understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum and how to adapt it to meet the needs of SEN pupils.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and pupils.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging attitude.
• A relevant teaching assistant or SEN qualification is desirable.
