Gi Group Derby are looking for a Beam Lifting Operative to join the Beaming Department at our busy client manufacturing site in central Derby. Reporting to the Production Director, you will be responsible for helping the Weaving and Beaming Departments run efficiently, using lifting equipment to load full beams of yarn in to needle and shuttle looms and moving woven product out of the department for onward processing.

Working Hours:
07:00 – 17:15 Monday – Thursday to include 1x 30 min unpaid break, and 2x 10 min paid breaks
Salary:
£11.52 per hour

Production Operative duties will include:
  • Loading and unloading beams into specialist in house machines, including needle and shuttle looms following written instructions.
  •  Moving woven fabric out of the Weaving department for onward processing.
  •  Move empty warp beams from creels and store.
  •  Controlling number of empty beams available for the Beaming Department.
  •  Waste control, including yarns and weekly control of oily rags.
  •  Replacing damaged warp cords.
  •  Fault and damage reporting.

The Person
  •  Full training will be given in this role, so no prior knowledge of textiles is required.
  •  High level of manual handing / lifting required.
  •  Good level of attention to detail
  •  Good level of written and spoken English

This Production Operative role will include a lot of manual handling and can be physically demanding.
