Base Location: Andover/Poole Flexible, Site and Office travel required. Work at home available.

Salary: £400-£500 per day Umbrella

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

In the electrifying world of project management, the role of a project manager in substation and cable works is both pivotal and dynamic. Charged with the responsibility of connecting communities and powering progress, they are the conductors orchestrating the symphony of construction, ensuring every wire and switch is meticulously planned and executed. Their expertise illuminates the path from blueprint to reality, energizing teams to lay down the veins of civilization that will transmit energy for generations to come. It's a role that requires not just technical acumen, but also the vision to foresee the currents of change and the agility to adapt to the ever-evolving landscape of power distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Project Execution: Ensure that all aspects of the project are carried out according to plan, including timelines, resources, and budget.
  • Contract Management: Manage contracts and maintain relationships with contractors and suppliers, ensuring terms are met and projects stay on track.
  • Safety Compliance: Uphold safety standards and act as the point of contact for Client, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor duties.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure project objectives are understood and met.
  • Problem-Solving: Utilize strong problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during the project, ensuring minimal disruption to the project timeline.
  • Travel and Site Visits: Regularly travel to various sites to monitor progress and provide on-the-ground oversight, requiring a valid driving license.

What do you need?

  • Previous experience of managing construction projects involving underground cables, overhead lines and substation works up to 132kV is preferred but other relevant sectors/utilities will be considered.
  • An Engineering qualification is preferred and a recognised qualification in construction safety and project management would be advantageous.
  • Experience in contract management and ideally have experience of NEC construction contracts.
  • You will be experienced in the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 and understand the duties of Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital and you will need to be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external. You will also need to possess good problem-solving skills and can thrive under pressure.
  • regular travel is required and as a result we can only accept applications from candidates that hold a current driving licence.
