Role Description

Due to company growth, Ellis Atkins is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing a variety of accounting functions, including managing client relationships, producing financial statements, reviewing tax returns, and providing timely advice and guidance to clients.

Ideally we are looking for someone who can work in a full time capacity but will consider part time and school hours too. Candidates must live within a commutable distance of our Dorking office.
We will also consider hybrid working arrangements once up to speed with our systems and processes.

  • Managing a large portfolio of clients ranging from sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Reviewing accounts and corporate tax returns.
  • Reviewing VAT returns, tax returns, and payroll prepared by trainees and more junior members of the team
  • Reviewing and finalising accounts and corporate tax returns to trial balance by junior staff.
  • Preparation of accounts for complex clients
  • Managing VAT deadlines and advising clients on complex VAT
  • Monthly CIS returns and CIS subcontractor verifications.
  • Management accounts for dividend planning and corporation tax estimates.
  • Preparation of directors Tax returns alongside company year-end accounts.
  • Assisting with tax planning for incorporation.
  • Payroll for clients with around 100 employees
  • Supervision and mentoring of trainees and junior members of the team
  • Audit experience desirable but not essential
  • Experience of Trusts and Estates and Charity Accounts desirable but not essential

Qualifications

  • ACCA or ACA qualified
  • Experience in general practice accounting
  • Experience managing client relationships and supervising accounting staff
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software such as IRIS
  • Familiar with bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks and Xero
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues

Benefits:

Salary: Subject to experience, the salary range starts from £40,000.00 per annum FTE, this will be pro-rated for part time working hours

Monday to Friday
Normal office hours 09:00 - 17:30
Core hours 08:00 - 18:00
