I am currently recruiting for a Streetmason Improver on behalf of my client, a leading public sector organisation based in Leicester (LE4).

My client are currently seeking a Streetmason Improver to support City Highways in undertaking highway maintenance and improvement works. You will undertakes duties, either individually or as part of a team, involving the construction, maintenance and repair of highways, sewers and watercourses, under the direction of a qualified operative or Site Supervisor.

Duties will include:

  • To interpret instructions and/or drawings and by the use of tacit skill and knowledge carry out and construct elements of the highway infrastructure to a specified standard or as required by any particular client/customer request.
  • To build and maintain parts of the highway to a safe and defined standard.
  • Constructing associated highway features such as gullies, drains, ducting and chambers etc. Erection and installation of miscellaneous street furniture including bollards, benches, bins, traffic signal posts etc
  • General manual/labouring tasks involved in the construction, maintenance and repair of highways, sewers and watercourses.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A valid driving license. 
  • Experience in working with construction tools and machinery is required.
  • Experience in a similar role. 
  • Have a good understanding of safe working procedures
  • Able to undertake laying of granite paving and setts to high precision and tight tolerances.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Highway Maintenance or similar.
  • NRSWA Accreditation

This post is full time 37 hours per week Monday-Friday, with a pay rate of £13.70 per hour PAYE or £16.82 via Umbrella.
