Job Requirements of this Teaching Assistant job in Cannock

• Ability to support students with challenging behaviour in a calm and patient manner.
• Proficiency in implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies.
• Capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support the holistic development of students.
• Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of students and the school environment.
• Commitment to promoting a positive learning atmosphere and fostering the social and emotional well-being of students.

Qualifications or Certificates:

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Teaching Assistance or equivalent.
• Relevant safeguarding training and certification.

Experience:

• Proven experience working with challenging behaviour within a school environment or similar setting.
• Experience supporting young people of secondary age (11-16 years) is preferred.
• Familiarity with alternative provision settings or special educational needs (SEN) is advantageous.

Brief Overview of the Role:

• Age Group: Secondary age students (11-16 years).
• The role involves providing one-to-one or group support to students with challenging behaviour, assisting them in accessing the curriculum, and promoting positive engagement in learning activities.
• Responsibilities may include implementing behaviour management strategies, facilitating social skills development, and providing academic support under the guidance of teaching staff.
• The Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and external agencies to ensure the holistic support and progress of students within the alternative provision school.
