We are currently seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a leading Secondary School's Alternative Provision in Manchester.

The Role: We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work within the Alternative Provision (AP) of our client school in Manchester. As a vital member of the team, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to students with challenging behaviour, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who may require additional support and understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the teaching and learning activities within the Alternative Provision, under the guidance of the teaching staff
  • Building positive relationships with students and providing pastoral support to help address behavioural challenges
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies and interventions to promote positive behaviour and engagement
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of individualised learning activities tailored to students' needs and abilities
  • Collaborating with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic and personal growth
  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress, behaviour incidents, and interventions

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with challenging behaviour in a school setting is essential
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs and backgrounds
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers
  • Resilience and adaptability to effectively manage challenging situations and behaviour
  • A proactive and positive attitude, with a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young people
  • Relevant qualifications or training in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) or behavioural difficulties (desirable)
