Business Analyst

We are looking for a dynamic and analytical Business Analyst to join our IT team and contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional business outcomes. Purpose of the Job: The Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in analysing and defining business needs, collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable solutions. This role supports process improvements, user story creation, and system enhancements to drive efficiency and business outcomes. The Business Analyst will work closely with operational and IT teams to ensure successful change implementation. Note: This is a hybrid position with the requirement to work across both our Wigan & Manchester offices 2/3 days per week. Key Responsibilities: Lead business process analysis, customer journey modelling, and improvement activities.Engage with key stakeholders to understand strategy and objectives, supporting business cases.Translate business problems into structured requirements with operational and IT teams.Build strong relationships across business and technical teams to drive efficiencies, reduce risk, and improve outcomes.Facilitate workshops to elicit requirements and support solution design.Define reporting and data requirements to enhance management information and decision-making.Support user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure successful implementation of change.Develop and deliver user training, including documentation, to support the adoption of new processes or systems.Manage transitions from projects to BAU, ensuring smooth handover and business readiness.Take ownership of impact assessments for new initiatives, supporting cost-benefit analysis and prioritization.Provide structured business analysis support for regulatory changes, collaborating with the Regulatory Change function on business-related compliance matters.Review external documentation (from clients or industry bodies) and provide insights that align with business and customer expectations.Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technology, and best practices to enhance business analysis capabilities. Qualifications & Experience Required: Degree or business analysis professional qualification.Experience in a business analysis role, leading analysis on large/complex projects & programmes.Stakeholder analysis & management.Investigation & analysis techniques for requirements gathering.Business Process Modelling.Data analysis.Database interrogation tools.Agile methodologies.Project management.Preparing & supporting User Acceptance Testing.Experience within the energy industry.Knowledge of data security & confidentiality issues.Use of Microsoft Dev Ops. Skills and Abilities: Ability to deliver business solutions for programmes/projects, balancing time, cost, and quality.Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Proven track record of employing business analysis techniques to enable business change.Developing robust documentation including business cases, cost/benefit analysis, options papers, and requirements specifications.Operate within varied project methodologies.Leadership, motivational, and supportive skills, with the ability to manage and influence stakeholders up to Director level.Excellent judgmental skills and ability to use initiative.Excellent written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Excellent presentation skills.Proven ability to work with data that underpins business processes, while always preserving data integrity.Adept in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio.Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
