With offices based in the City, Kent, Singapore, and New York, they have a collaborative team of marine and transit professionals that work well internally and externally with their clients and partners. They are seeking a Freight Liability Services Claims Handler to join their team of 6 claims professionals. This team will soon be merging with their Ports & Terminals claims team, where cross skilling opportunities will be given within this team, and others. You’ll be responsible for managing your own portfolio of claims from cradle to grave. Responsibilities: Receive, review, set up and process freight liability claims from customers, carriers, brokers &/or InsurersConduct thorough investigations to determine the potential legal liability of parties involved, including reviewing documentation, collecting evidence, analysing trading terms & conditions and/or International ConventionsEvaluate the extent of damages or loss, assessing the validity of claims and estimating potential settlement amountsAppointing surveyors &/or Lawyers, where necessary and within the remit of our handing authoritiesCollaborate with internal departments, including surveyors, compliance and finance, to gather necessary information and documentation to support the claims processCommunicate with insurance providers, brokers, and adjusters to coordinate coverage and negotiate settlementsCarefully monitoring case progressEnsure accurate and complete documentation of claims, including claim forms, incident reports, and supporting evidenceNegotiating settlement of claims in accordance with contractual terms, national and international law and/or on a commercial basis, where appropriate and within our handling authoritiesMaintain proper records of claims, correspondence, and settlement agreementsProviding guidance to clients including but not limited to claim status requests, advice on general recovery prospects, legal time bars, liability limits and any requirements/recommendations for security and loss preventionCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to prevent future claims by identifying opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigationBuilding and maintaining good working relationships with Insureds, insurers, brokers, freight forwarders, lawyers, as well as claimants and recovery agentsStay updated on industry regulations, insurance policies, and legal requirements related to freight liability claims To apply, you’ll need to provide a demonstrable knowledge of freight and/or marine liability insurance, and a desire to grow with a reputable business.
