A leading player in the bridging finance industry, providing fast and flexible solutions to clients across the UK, due to its continued growth, is looking to hire an experienced Head of Underwriting to lead its bridging finance division, on a hybrid basis. Head of Underwriting - The Role As the Head of Underwriting - Bridging, you will take ownership of the underwriting process for its bridging finance products, ensuring that every deal is assessed with precision and within our risk appetite. You will play a critical role in driving the strategy, developing and mentoring a high-performing team, and shaping the future direction of our underwriting processes. Head of Underwriting Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the underwriting team, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to company policies and procedures.Oversee the full lifecycle of underwriting for bridging loans, from initial assessment through to deal completion.Develop and implement underwriting strategies to improve efficiency, manage risk, and drive growth.Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.Collaborate with sales, credit, legal, and other departments to ensure smooth and effective deal closure.Provide leadership in evaluating complex cases and providing expert advice.Monitor and report on underwriting performance, including risk exposure and credit quality.Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team. Head of Underwriting - Bridging - Experience Extensive experience in underwriting, ideally within the bridging or specialist finance sectors.Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to develop and motivate a team.In-depth understanding of the UK property market and bridging finance products.Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.Relevant qualifications (e.g., CeMAP, CII) would be advantageous.
