Five companies hiring during COVID-19

Looking for work during COVID-19?

The coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on the world of work. Whether it’s learning how to work from home effectively, staff being placed on furlough, or the heroics of frontline workers helping us get through the crisis.

But what happens if you lost your role as a result of coronavirus? And how many companies are hiring in such an uncertain climate?

Well, quite a lot, as it turns out. In fact, there are over 100,000 jobs live on reed.co.uk right now – with thousands more added every single day.

As part of our commitment to help #KeepBritainWorking, here are just five companies searching for staff during COVID-19 – and beyond.

NHS

The NHS has, without question, been one of the biggest success stories during the coronavirus crisis.

But even with appreciation for healthcare workers deservedly at an all-time high, they still need help to combat COVID-19. And that means making sure we have as many people as possible working on the frontlines.

They’re looking for more Doctors, Nurses and Support Workers – as well as a whole host of other roles including Cleaners, Porters, 111 Call Handlers and much more. So even if you’re not medically trained, you can still get involved.

And it’s not just the NHS itself. There are thousands of roles to be found through other great employers, with Nurseplus and Reed Key Workers just two places to start your search.

Care UK

Care UK is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of health and social care services – running hospitals, treatment centres and care homes all across the country.

The work they do is absolutely vital in ensuring millions of people have access to adequate healthcare. Which now, more than ever, could literally be the difference between life and death. It’s also meant taking on extra risks to help those affected by, or vulnerable to, COVID-19.

But they can’t do it on their own.

They’re looking for hundreds of staff members right now, with Registered Nurses and Care Assistants particularly in demand. They also have a range of roles in areas such as admin, HR, finance and more. So even if you’re not a healthcare professional, you can still help make a difference.

If you’re ready to join the fight, apply for a role with Care UK today.

Locations: Throughout the UK.

Hermes

When it comes to unsung heroes, it’s hard to argue that Delivery Drivers are right up there.

One of the many companies keeping the country going in this area is Hermes.

Hermes is the UK’s leading consumer delivery specialist, handling over 260 million parcels each and every year. And, as their network of over 16,000 couriers are self-employed, they’re providing a valuable service to their local communities, whilst also working to their own schedule and enjoying a great work-life balance (well, under the circumstances).

They’re looking for hundreds of Drivers and Supervisors right now, as well as Night Shift Workers and Regional Delivery Managers.

UPS, Yodel and Royal Mail are also hiring. So if you’re looking to for a new start in transport and logistics, you can find it on reed.co.uk.

Amazon

OK, so we’ve covered delivery. But what about the retailers themselves?

Although the high street has been hit hard by the current climate, one area that continues to boom is online retail. And when it comes to online retailers, they don’t get much bigger than Amazon.

The tech giant currently employs over 20,000 people in the UK alone. And it’s not just the warehouse they need help with.

There are jobs in areas like automation and maintenance engineering, IT, HR, customer service, and more. Not to mention hundreds of tech roles for those looking to work in AWS or development.

Once again, locations are available up-and-down the country – with numerous working from home opportunities also on offer. So you can get your career from A – Z quicker than you can say Amazon Prime.

And, yes. Staff do get discounts.

Lidl

Finally, we want to focus on our supermarkets.

Continually thinking about our needs throughout this crisis, the likes of Lidl have been implementing social distancing for all of their shoppers – not to mention providing PPE and other critical safety measures for their staff.

It’s because of them that our essential items have continued to be widely available. Which has helped the ‘new normal’ feel a little more normal for all of us during the whole lockdown period.

However, although our heroic supermarket staff have been indispensable – they need relief, and to add to their numbers. Which means more people joining the fight.

Lidl have more than 100 jobs available now, making them the biggest supermarket hiring with us. However, roles are also available with Aldi, Asda and Iceland.

So, no matter what shop there is in your area, you can get involved. All you need to do is apply.

Because together, we can #KeepBritainWorking.
