Need a job now? We can help with that…

If your employment status has changed during the COVID-19 crisis, you might be looking for work as quickly as possible. Luckily, there are thousands of immediate start jobs available on reed.co.uk right now – in industries ranging from retail, right through to healthcare, HR and logistics.

To help you start your search, here are just six immediate start jobs you could apply for now:

Support Worker

The current crisis has stretched the healthcare sector to its limit.

As a result, support workers are needed up and down the country to help with increased demand.

It could be working on the frontlines, in care homes, in homeless hostels, supporting adults with learning disabilities, or just providing an isolated individual with much needed care during this incredibly lonely time.

Wherever you work, you’ll be making a difference.

You won’t necessarily need previous experience to get started either. Many positions, such as Care Assistant, may require little more than a full UK driving license and an excellent bedside manner to get started.

So even if you’re brand new to care work, you can still get involved.

Cleaner

Cleaners have undoubtedly been one of the biggest unsung heroes throughout the pandemic.

Not only is the work they do vital to keeping us safe and stopping the virus from spreading, many have been doing their jobs diligently despite the potential dangers.

Which is just one reason that they are incredibly in demand.

In fact, as schools and businesses look to reopen over the next few months, hygiene and cleanliness will be of paramount importance. And many are having to hire additional staff right away to help keep their companies in line with government guidelines.

Once again, positions are available up and down the country – covering every type of industry imaginable.

If you’re looking for work you can start sooner rather than later, take a look at our current cleaning vacancies now.

Developer

If your expertise is tied to tech, don’t panic.

The rise in remote working has led to a huge time of change in the industry. And it’s not just for those working in technical support positions.

A number of companies are looking for FrontEnd and BackEnd Developers right now – as they work to ensure their software and technical infrastructure are as efficient as possible. For their employees and their customers.

There’s also an increasing demand for Data and DevOps Engineers.

Many of these positions are available to work 100% remotely, meaning location isn’t too much of a problem in the short term. And with more vacancies added daily, there are opportunities out there to suit all skillsets.

Driver

Another sector which has remained relatively stable during COVID-19 is transport & logistics.

As a result, there are thousands of driving jobs available – ranging from HGV Class 1 & 2 Drivers, right through to Multi-Drop Delivery Drivers, and many more.

Some of these positions will require extensive experience and training, but some may just look for a clean UK driving license, as well as access to your own van.

Similarly, some of these may be temporary roles, to cover COVID-19, whilst some are for more permanent positions. Many, such as those for Couriers, even come with an element of being your own boss.

Which could be all the more attractive as we begin to move out of lockdown and back to our normal lives.

Fruit Picker

The current shortage of seasonal agricultural workers due to COVID-19 is unlikely to come as a surprise.

Prince Charles is just one of those who has been calling for more workers in this sector, with the ‘Pick for Britain’ campaign launched last month to encourage more applicants.

Key harvesting time for many farms lasts from June well into the autumn, meaning there’s never been a better time to get involved. And with the seasonal nature of the work, it could provide the perfect stopgap for anyone looking to get hired immediately, and still keep the door open for a return to their preferred position.

It may also be a good option for anyone currently furloughed by their employer – as seasonal agricultural work will not affect the grant they can claim under the Job Retention Scheme. So long as your contract allows it.

Warehouse Operative

Farm workers aren’t the only pickers in demand.

There are literally hundreds of warehouse roles which need to be filled ASAP – including those for Pickers/Packers, Warehouse Operatives, and Forklift Drivers, to name a few.

And with many employers having to fulfil more ecommerce transactions and deliveries than ever before, it’s a trend that shows no signs of slowing down. Even after the first wave of the virus has died down.

As with all of these roles, more are being added to the site every hour.
