Independent Builders Merchant Group is the largest independent builders merchant group in the South East. In March 2018 Cairngorm Capital acquired Parker Building Supplies, a leading independent builders’ merchant based in Sussex and Kent.

Three further proprietary investments of Chandlers Building Supplies, Stamco Timber & Fairalls (Builders' Merchants) in 2019 have created the largest independent builders’ merchant in the South East of England, led by a management team with deep industry expertise.

The business primarily serves trade customers with its core offering of heavyside building materials, civils, roofing & timber, plus an array of ancillary product lines including kitchens, plumbing & heating, joinery and architectural ironmongery.

The new enlarged company, which will be part of a holding company known as the Independent Builders’ Merchant Group (IBMG), has 40 branches operating from the Midlands to the South East, with combined revenues of £180 million and over 750 employees.

Chandlers Building Supplies

Established in 1993, Chandlers is an independent builders’ merchant with branches across the South East of England. The company has 8 building materials branches in Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

Chandlers Roofing Supplies

Chandlers Roofing Supplies is an independent roofers merchant with 9 branches, located in the South East, London and the West Midlands. We take great pride in the vast range of roofing materials we supply, our excellent customer service and our in-depth product knowledge. For all your roofing material requirements, from pitched roofs to flat roofs, we can help.

We opened our first branch of Chandlers Roofing Supplies in 2010, in Halesowen, in the West Midlands. Our next branch to open was in Coventry in 2011, before expanding into London (Willesden and Harrow) and Essex (Rainham). Our newest branches, having opened in 2019 and 2020, are in Rye, Tonbridge, Leatherhead and Guildford.

We are connected to Chandlers Building Supplies, the builders merchant arm of Chandlers. Chandlers Building Supplies have 7 dedicated branches, across the South East, and can trace its history in the building supply market back to over 150 years ago.

Parker Building Supplies

Founded in 1984 , with a heavyside focus and a strong reputation for customer service, Parker Building Supplies is a leading builders’ merchant based in the South East of England. With the recent addition of Stamco Building Supplies into its branch network, Parker Building Supplies now has 19 branches right across Sussex and Kent. Its heavy side branches are supplemented by specialist divisions focusing on plumbing supplies, kitchens, joinery and architectural ironmongery.

Fairalls

Fairalls Builders’ Merchants has a family history dating back to 1900 and offers a mix of heavy and lightside building materials, from its four locations in Surrey and Kent – Gatwick, Sevenoaks and two branches in Godstone. Its Taylors Hill Branch in Godstone is one of the largest heavyside yards in the South East. The company has a reputation for excellent customer service.

Stamco Timber

Stamco Timber is an importing, manufacturing and wholesale distribution business that supplies a range of timber, boards and wood flooring products to timber and builders merchants, construction companies and a variety of manufacturers across a large area of the South of England. This business operates from a 5.5-acre distribution centre and timber mill, in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex.
