Why did you join Lothian Buses?

I applied for a job at Lothian Buses to become part of a well known growing company and to take advantage of the fantastic staff benefits they offer. I joined the company 7 years ago and still enjoy my job today.

What does your day involve?

My day involves keeping vehicle records, tax discs and MOT’s up to date, as well as ensuring the DVLA are aware of any changes made to our vehicle specifications.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

I enjoy the variance of tasks I am given day to day. I am also constantly learning new skills and improving on my knowledge of the company.

Gavin Corbett, Driver

Why did you join Lothian Buses?

Growing up I always had an interest in transport. My dad was a bus driver and when I was accepted for a job at Lothian Buses I was thrilled to be offered the chance to work for such a fantastic company.

What does your day involve?

My day begins by signing on for my shift at the traffic office and checking for any new notices that may affect my route. I then have to examine my bus for any faults before departing to start service. When on service a key part of my job is ensuring I provide the best customer service I possibly can as a representative of the company.

I am also Union Convenor at Central Depot and part of my role is to assist drivers who may need help on work or personal related issues.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

I really enjoy driving around our city, especially on a lovely summer’s day. As a driver you get to see all the different places Edinburgh has to offer. It is also really satisfying assisting people who are unfamiliar with our city and need help finding their way around.
