Description
This course is divided into five key units, covering major historical periods and themes:
- The Making of a Superpower: USA (1865-1975) – Reconstruction, political corruption, economic growth, and foreign policy
- The Wars of the Roses: The Fall of the House of Lancaster – The power struggles that shaped England
- The Making of a Superpower: USA (1920-1975) – The Great Depression, World War II, and the USA’s global rise
- The Wars of the Roses: The Fall of the House of York – The conflict between the Yorkists and Tudors
- Independent Coursework (NEA) – A personal historical study based on a topic of your choice
- Fully online learning via the MyOxbridge platform
- Tutor-marked assignments to track progress
- Interactive case studies and historical analysis tasks
Students will complete three assessments:
- Paper 1: 2 hours 30 minutes, 40% of A-Level, 80 marks
- Paper 2: 2 hours 30 minutes, 40% of A-Level, 80 marks
- Coursework (NEA): 3,500-4,500 words, 20% of A-Level, 40 marks
The coursework is an independent research project, marked by a tutor and moderated by AQA.
